Casting Kitchen Magic: Plum Tarte with Lemon Basil Simple Syrup

This past season was ripe with plums in my life. Some would even say I went a little plum crazy with my cooking. When I examine the reason for this abundance of plummy energy, I am overcome with comfort and stability at the at the idea of a fruitful harvest to be enjoyed throughout the autumn months to come.

Plums are delightful treat that embodies emotional comfort. With a colour and energy that soothes the soul, find some compassion for your self through this wonderful and soulful fruit. Plums excite with a sweetly tart flesh, and have a multitude of health benefits that allow a flow of energy to cultivate within.

Plums connect with the sacral chakra, like the womb of the blossom that breaches in spring. Bearing an energy that comforts through embrace, plums teach us to bring softness into your heart, and to be self inspired with childlike wonder. When we are in a place of comfort, we foster an environment that allows for learning and laughter. Plums remind us to be confident in our exploration, and in that we become complete in our understanding of ourselves.

Plums also have a lot of physical benefits that allow your body to function at its best state. We all know prunes are one of those magic fruits that aide in digestion, so why not consume them while they’re still fresh! Fresh plums still come pack loaded with that fibre goodness that is so nessecary for a well balanced diet.

I have been exploring nature’s image of my own beauty with plums through this creative and exciting recipe, that I hope you will find brings this soft and beautiful energy to your home. Plum Basil Tarte

Ingredients:

5-6 fresh plums

10 fresh basil leaves

Puff Pastry

1/4 cup white sugar + 1 Tbs sugar

1/2 tsp lemon juice

Basil simple syrup:

  1. Place 1/4 cup sugar in a pot with 1/2 tsp of lemon juice. Bring to a boil using a candy thermometer until. Degrees. Once the syrup is up to temperature remove from heat and add 8 of the basil leaves. Set aside to cool

Plum Tarte

  1. Lay your pastry onto a baking sheet. For added energy baked to your desserts you can carve lightly with a knife magical symbols and spells.
  2. Slice plums and lay in an arrangement that is appealing to the eye. This is also a time you can utilize symbols, or spells while displaying your fruits. Once you’ve placed your fruits how you want them, sprinkle with the remaining sugar, dot with butter and bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes, until the pastry is golden.
  1. Remove from the oven and while the dessert is still warm, drizzle with your basil simple syrup to your desire. To finish, Chop the remaining basil into ribbons and sprinkle over top when your tarte is fully cooled.
